Hola, I hope you guys are going to like the upcoming twist.
Internal monologues as always in bold😏
Without any further ado…
~Sai’s POV at night~
Virat Sir’s Mom gave me some food to eat and bonded with me through that and even one of his Bua’s has come. She seems nice too.
“So Sai, what do you do?” They ask me curiously.
“I passed the 12th year a few days back and now I’m waiting for the results to enroll in the medical school here.”
“That’s great,” they say but with a fallen face.
“What’s wrong Aai and Shivani Bua?” I ask them with concern.
“In this house no girl is allowed to study further than what they have done or go to work.” Aai hesitantly says.
“Aai, you don’t have to worry Virat Sir’s going to handle everyone.” As I’m saying that I see Pakhi didi(sister, normally a sibling) passing by.
“Pakhi didi aap andhar aiye na(come inside, sister Pakhi).”
“Nahi Sai par tumko bhi is ghar ki kaide aur kanoon ko follow karna chaiye(No Sai, but you should also follow the rules and regulations of this house).” She says in a manner of being annoyed with me, without any reason. I did not notice that Virat Sir had heard her and followed her to the balcony.
My phone rings and I excuse myself from them by saying, “it’s an important call, I need to take it. It must be my Mamu(uncle, mother or mother-in-law’s brother).”
“Okay, go and talk to your Mama ji.” Both say, so I leave from my, no, Virat Sir’s room and walk towards Usha Mausi’s room. I go inside and receive the call.
“Hi Victoria,” I say as I hear the voice of my P.A’s, “what’s the deal about?”
I talk to her while I notice from the corner of my eye that someone is trying to listen to my conversation which is purely in English. They won’t understand it anyways.
Back to Vicky who’s telling me all about the deal and that my Mamu needs my agreement before signing it. The contract seems to be good so I tell her that I want to personally meet the CEO of the company and that too in Nagpur. After the conversation, I say good night to her, I cut the call and go back to the room.
Virat Sir is in the room alone as Aai and Shivani Bua are nowhere to be seen.
“Where were you?” He asks me with concern.
“I was in Usha Mausi’s room talking to my Mamu’s P.A.” I say hiding the fact that Victoria is my P.A.
“Why would your Mama ji’s Personal Assistant talk to you?” He asks with an expression that I do not understand.
“Because they need my signature for a deal as I’m the sole heir of my Nana ji’s(grandfather from the mother or mother-in-law’s side) company as I’m the only grandchild.” I reply back truthfully and he looks kinda stunned.
“So you handle the Business too while you are studying and waiting for the entrance letter from the medical school? How do you manage all that?” He asks but I’m not ready to tell him how I do it.
Why is he asking so many questions? My mind asks.
He yawns, so do I and we say, “good night,” at the same time and smile at one another. I take one side of the bed and he the other one.
I fall into a dreamless sleep.
~The next morning~
I wake up about six o’clock, get freshened up in the en-suite bathroom. I drape around myself a simple red and green combo saree and as I’m coming out, Virat Sir dashes into me, because of that we both fall onto the floor.
I’m squashed between him and the cold floor. We both are lost in each other’s eyes. His chocolaty brown eyes are trying to tell me something that I do not understand while my own eyes widen as I feel his warm breath on my face as well as his face coming closer to mine. I try to get him off me, he is so heavy. I pout.
He must have come back into his senses as he easily gets off me, helps me up too.
“I’m sorry,” he says while his cheeks turn a bit red.
“It’s okay, you must be in a hurry. Shall I make something for breakfast for you?”
“Whatever you want to make, but don’t stress yourself out!”
“I won’t,” I say and hurriedly leave the room to go downstairs to find the kitchen.
As I find it, I see that Aai’s already there.
“Can I help you Aai?” I ask her.
“Yes, can you make Parathas(naan bread)?”
“Ji Aai (yes mom).” I say and start making the dough for it. I was so engrossed in making it that I did not notice anything around me.
I knead the dough, fry them and smile remembering how my father used to make them.
“Aai,” I say and she looks at me as I ask, “can I make something sweet?”
“Sure, what are you planning to make?”
“It’s a surprise,” I say and she nods leaving me to do my favourite Kheer and Puri(Indian Rice pudding and fried dough). She doesn’t let anyone come inside too, which I’m grateful for and after 10 minutes I’m finished.
Everyone’s already present on the dining table, waiting for the food.
Aai starts serving one side, I do the other one starting with Virat Sir.
That’s how it all looks like and I’m quite pleased with myself.
They all are praising Aai, when she says, “I have not made those three dishes, Sai made them!”
They start to make faces except for Virat Sir, who’s happily eating all on his plate. I feel bad, maybe they just don’t like it.
“The food is absolutely delicious, Sai. I love it!” Virat Sir says with a warm smile, I thank him and he nods.
Pakhi didi is just glaring at the food and playing around with it. I ignore it.
“Sai, do you have some work today?” Virat Sir asks in English so that no one understands it.
“Yes, I have to sign some documents and Victoria is coming to pick me up.”
“I can drop you,” He offers, “so she doesn’t have to leave work to pick you up.”
“Okay, I’m going to message her and tell her not to come.” I say and do it immediately. Some have gotten up and begin to resume their work but Virat Sir holds me back, displeasing everyone especially his best friend.
“When do you have to be there?”
“In half an hour but you should go to work.” I say.
“No, I can wait for you.”
“Really?”
“Yes.” He ends the conversation and I agree with him.
I help Aai and Sonali Kaku in cleaning the table and the kitchen.
“Aai, I have to go out for something important, I’m going to be back in an hour.” I say and she tells me to be back soon.
I go upstairs and get ready in a formal skirt and shirt combination. I’m ready, so I come downstairs.
Virat Sir is waiting for me at the stairs and keeps on looking at me, as if he has never seen me.
I think he is having a heart attack. My mind says while my heart shushes it.
“You look great.” He compliments me with red cheeks, I blush a bit.
“Thank you,” I say and compliment him too by saying, “you look good in your police uniform too.”
“So shall we?” He asks and I nod. So we quickly walk to the front door before someone stops us.
In the car we both laugh as it feels like we are breaking out of prison. He asks me for the address, I tell him where it is and he drops me at my destination.
“Damn, I’m five minutes late, Mamu is gonna kill me.” I say.
“Just apologize for being late and that it was my fault.”
“No, I cannot say that.” I say, “I’m just going to say that I was stuck in traffic.”
“Which is true. Okay, call me when you are finished and I’ll try to drop you home.”
“Sure, see you.”
“See you soon.” He says and drives off as soon as I get out of the car. I quickly walk towards the building and Victoria is already waiting for me.
“Ma’am,” she raises her eyebrows at me.
“I know, I’m late!” She nods as I say that. So we walk up the stairs in a hurry.
Soon we reach the meeting room, I knock the door and my Mamu says, “come in.”
So we do and I say, “I’m sorry for being late, but there was a lot of traffic.”
Mamu nods and says, “Mr Chawan meet the CEO of our company and my niece, Sai.”
When I hear the name, I’m stunned as well as he is.
“Omi Kaka,” I say and even he seems to be stunned.
“Sai,” he says in shock.
“Seems like you know each other,” Mamu says.
“Yes,” I say, “he is my husband’s uncle!”
