~Continuation in Sai’s POV~
As soon as I say, who Omi Kaka is to me. Mamu looks stunned and disappointed.
“How and when, Sai?” He asks.
“2 days ago,” I reply back with my head down, “just yesterday I came here. Everything happened in a rush.”
He shakes his head and says, “you never wanted to get married. How come you did?”
“Aaba’s last wish,” I say and he begins to cry.
“Why didn’t you inform us?”
I’m about to tell my Mamu the reason when Virat Sir barges inside and says, “You forgot your phone.”
“Thank you Virat Sir.” I say and he apologises for coming inside like that.
“Who is this, Sai?” Mamu asks.
“This is my husband, Virat Chawan.” I answer back. Virat and Mamu shake hands and that’s when he sees his own uncle.
“Omi Kaka app yahan kya kar rahe ho(What are you doing here, uncle Omi)?” Virat Sir asks.
“Business. Did you know that Sai is the sole heir of this company?” His uncle tells and asks him. Virat Sir nods.
“Don’t you need to go to work?” I ask Mr ACP, he shakes his head.
He says, “they don’t need me today, so I thought to stay here until you’re finished.”
“Victoria,” I say and the woman in question nods as I continue talking, “bring Virat Sir to my office and take care of him until I’m finished in here.”
“Yes, ma’am.” My P.A says and is about to lead Virat Sir to my office, while he looks at me in surprise. Mamu laughs silently while his uncle looks
unimpressed. I shrug my shoulders.
We finally start talking about the deal, finalise something’s and sign the contract. As I’m about to open the door to go to my office, I meet my Mami(aunt, wife of the mother or mother-in-law’s brother), who gets excited to see me.
“Sai, is that really you?” She asks and I nod.
“You have grown up so much, you look a lot like Di.” She compliments me and I blush. Soon Vicky comes back with Virat Sir in tow.
“Ma’am can you please take care of your husband, he irritates me a lot.” Vicky says, I laugh while Virat Sir tries to make innocent expressions.
“I can imagine,” I say and I receive glares from my dear hubby. While Omi Kaka says bye to us, leaves and Mami glares at me.
“You didn’t think to inform us about your marriage? Does your husband know, if anything happens to you that 50 % of the company belongs to him?” My Mami asks while Mamu looks sad again.
“It’s not Sai’s fault at all,” Virat Sir says after he recovers from the shock, “I promised Kamal Sir while he was taking his last breath, that I’m going to take care of Sai, so some people of Gadchiroli forced us both to get married.”
“You didn’t inform anyone?” She asks.
“We were not allowed to tell anyone, so we got married in a rush.” We both say at the same time. Mamu nods as I told him that before too.
“If you do not take care of our niece,” the husband and wife duo warn Virat Sir, who gulps after seeing them like this while I smile, “we are going to make you feel guilty and we’re going to take her with us!”
Virat Sir nods like a student getting told of by his teacher. My Mami and Mamu are normal again and Virat Sir turns towards me.
“Are they always like that?”
“They learnt it from my mother,” I reply back.
He looks even more scared while he asks, “are you going to be like this too?”
“It depends with whom I have to deal with.”
“Okay,” his expression is very funny that Vicky just laughs.
“How can a police officer be scared of his wife?” She asks, me and my fam shrug our shoulders.
“It’s because I have seen how she can turn into an angry young woman, so yeah I’m a bit scared of her.”
Victoria smirks and asks with her English accent, “did you guys meet in Gaadchhiroli?”
“Yes, I was the ACP there for a few weeks and saved your ma’am’s life twice.” He answers back. Mamu and Mami look at him with gratitude.
He is about to tell them at first of me trying to take my own life, when I pinch his hand as I tangle our hands together.
He turns to me, tries to glare at me but he sees that I don’t want to tell them. So he tells them the first time he saved me.
“Thank you Damad ji(son-in-law) for saving our daughter.” They say and he’s about to say that they don’t have to say thank you or that there’s no need for a thank you.
“You gave everything to save her, so it’s our duty to thank you.” They say, making me feel guilty.
Virat Sir reassures me by gripping my hand a bit tighter.
I don’t know when I started to respect him, but having him besides me is something I never imagined! Why is it so difficult for me to talk to him normally? My heart confesses with a thump as well as questions itself.
I’m about to tell Virat Sir that we should be going, when I receive a message from an unknown number. That person is blackmailing me.
And just a minute later someone calls Virat Sir, they have the same number as the blackmailer.
“What’s wrong, Sai?” Mamu asks me, I look at Virat Sir, who leaves the room as he sees that I want to talk about something personal to my Mami and Mamu.
“Someone’s blackmailing me,” I tell them about it all, “they want 20,000 pounds and if I do not give it to them they are going to reveal my true identity to my in-laws!”
“Till when do you need to give them the money?” Mami asks.
“Till the 20th December 2020.”
“Alright, we are going to arrange it somehow.” My Mamu says and I nod. I open the door and see that my husband is waiting for me. He smiles at me and I smile back immediately.
“Shall I drop you home. I need to go to work, duty calls!” He says and then we say our “see you soon” to my fam and Victoria.
“Is something wrong?” He asks me while we walk towards the car while I’m lost in thoughts about my blackmailer.
“Yes.” I swiftly reply back without looking at him. He leaves it like that and does not ask anything else to me.
The ride is moving quite slowly. We both do not know what to say or what to do.
“I’m sorry Virat Sir,” I say.
“Why are you saying sorry?” He questions me while looking confused.
“For not telling you about my family as I need to protect them the way Aaba did for so many years.” I sincerely answer back.
“I understand,” he says, “and if you need any help just tell me.”
“Sure.” And the silence prevailed again but this time it’s comfortable.
“What’s the plan for today?” He asks out of the blue.
“Nothing much, just going to help Aai in cleaning and cooking.”
“No, you are going to go and rest in our room.” He commands and I just sadly nod. He smirks while I glare at him.
“But I want to help Aai,” I pout at him.
He pouts back at me and exclaims, “no!”
“Why?”
“Because you must be tired and I don’t want you to fall ill.”
“I’m alright, Virat Sir.”
“If you say so,”
“Hmm,” I reply back while he laughs.
Not even 10 minutes later we have reached my destination as he is not coming with me.
“See you soon.” I say and he replies back too. I get out of the car, close the door and walk towards the entrance when I walk into a woman older than me.
“I’m sorry,” I say and she smiles at me.
“Who are you?” She asks me.
“That’s Sai,” Virat Sir says standing right next to me, “my wife, Devi Tai(sister).”
“My Viru is married,” his sister happily says while looking at me, “you are so beautiful.”
I blush and thank her.
“When are you guys going to give us the good news?”
“What good news?” We both ask.
“I want to see a little Viru or little Sai soon.” She childishly says, shocking us both to the core.
I want to say something but Mr Husband does, “That’s why I married her, Devi Tai.”
Is this guy seriously gone mad? My mind asks while wanting to punch him.
“Sach me (really)?” She asks and I just nod as I feel Virat Sir holding my hand. I hadn’t noticed that the whole family was here until Aai took Tai with her.
“Devyani, dekho teri Sai Bhabhi ne kya banaya hai tere liye (Look what Sai has made for you, Devyani).” Aai shows her a bowl of Kheer, I had made in the morning.
“Kheer, wow thank you Ashwini Kaku and Sai Bhabhi.” Devi Tai says, hugs Aai then me and leaves with Aai.
As soon as they are not nearby, I glare at him and yell, “are you out of your mind, Virat Sir? How could you just say that you married me, to have children with me? Do I look like a machine to you?”
He looks at me as if he wants to roar in laughter but calms himself down before it.
“Sai, I only told her to calm her down as she can get quite hyperactive.” He says with a smile.
“You know,” I say with a small smirk, “I would have made a case of marital harassment on you!”
“What? Why?” He cutely asks while someone cannot stop their laughter and it’s Victoria.
“Wow, Mr Irritating does not know what to say,” Vicky says and laughs even more while Virat Sir looks annoyed and Pakhi didi is rolling her eyes but the way she looks, looks more as if she’s heartbroken.
Who cares about her? My mind asks while my heart tries to shush it.
All of a sudden, I realise that Virat Sir is still holding my hand and Victoria winks at me.
“What are you doing here Vicky?” I ask while everyone looks at her like she’s an alien.
She replies back, “I was ordered by Aakash Sir to bring you the money to give to your blackmailer. There’s 1 thousand pounds less.”
“I’ll arrange the 1 thousand pounds, don’t worry!” I say.
“Okay, Ma’am,” She says, “do come over sometimes, your prince is waiting for you!” Everyone looks at me as my cheeks turn red and her Mr Irritating is having an unreadable expression.
He’s jealous. My heart says to which I disagree.
How can he get jealous of him? He doesn’t love me! My mind says the truth.
I tell that I will come and walk inside as I hear some of the elders saying, taunting or even asking each other, “what is this girl wearing? She is disrespecting us! She is not good for this house!”
I ignore them as they cannot just judge me by my dressing sense when we do not know each other.
I hear Virat Sir asking them, “why are you judging her by what she’s wearing or her behaviour?”
“But Virat,” Pakhi didi exclaims in a sticky way and sugary voice, “she was yelling at you and being rude to you!”
“She is my wife and I know her better than you guys!” He says, comes inside too and sees me standing here in the hallway.
“Thank you,” I honestly say as I’m thankful to him, “for standing up for me.”
“You didn’t do anything wrong.” He answers back with a reassuring smile. He leads me upstairs to our room and closes the door.
