Star plus who is know for producing hit remakes, first planned an official remake of Pandian Stores which is Gupta Brothers, initially named Khaandan on their own channel & had also promised prime slot to producer Mahesh Pandey. Soon, the cast and crew started shooting in Banaras. After the Lockdown, Star discussed, with producer Mahesh Pandey and decided that, they shift this show to Star Bharat. However, post-lockdown Star Bharat changed its genre to comedy. So, Mahesh Pandey scrapped the whole show & cast and even scrapped the episodes shot at Banaras. Later, he re-casted many actors to fit into comedy genre. Even the plot of his show, was changed into a “dramedy” to suit the comedy genre of Star Bharat.

Nevertheless, Star Bharat changed into genre once again to family drama, due to low response from the audience towards it’s Comedy genre. So the series, Gupta Brothers again turned into a family drama from comedy with the plot being more loyal to the plot of Pandian Stores after Ganga-Shiv’s marriage!

However, now Star has announced ONE more remake of Pandian Stores, produced by Sphere Origins, starring, Kinshuk Mahajan, Shiny Doshi and Kanwar Dhillon, which is soon is to be launched in Star Plus!
Earlier, 4 Lions Films too had announced the second remake of Bengali Series Ishti Kutum, as Imlie, where the Producer Gul Khan had justified that she will give a more REALISTIC APPROACH to the original series, than it’s first remake in Hindi, Mohi!
