Heya Twistinians, welcome back to a new OS of mine and I hope you guys like.
Internal monologues are written in bold…
Without any further ado😉
{Virat’s POV}
“Urgh I’m so dead.” I whisper to myself.
As soon as I enter Sai and my apartment a vase hits the wall right next to me. It was the vase that Pakhi Bhabhi had given us when we had invited her to our apartment. I remember it very well as if it was yesterday and as I look at the broken pieces of the vase.
I never liked it much anyways, but Sai always adored it. My mind says.
It was our anniversary and I’m late as it’s already past midnight. I’m dead meat because Sai must have spent hours in the kitchen to make food and planning a surprise for me as she had told me on the phone.
“I’m so sorry,” I say looking at my furious wife who is spitting fire at me.
“You should be sorry,” she shouts, “I spent hours on making food, decorating the apartment the way you like it and baking a simple cake for you.” After she finishes shouting, she glares at me, walks into our bedroom and shuts the door.
I shake my head, walk towards the kitchen where I see a cake being set on the counter. I look at it and am confused.
Since when does she call me baby? My mind and heart ask as well as confusing me even more.
So I decide to ask her about what is going on and walk into our bedroom. She is pretending like she is sleeping as her breaths are uneven.
I act as if I don’t know, I get changed, lay down next to her and wrap my arms around her.
“I’m really sorry Shona,” I whisper in her ear, “there was a lot to do in the police station and I know I messed up badly.”
“Shh,” she shuts me up and says, “I’m sorry for getting angry at you, I should be more understanding towards you and your work. I was just worried that something has happened to you.” In the end she is crying. I turn her around towards me, with one hand I wipe her tears away.
“I have you by my side then nothing is ever going to happen to me.” I whisper into her ear truthfully as she is my protective charm.
“I love you,” she says while calming down and I cannot get enough of those words from her.
2 years ago I made the best decision of moving out from the Chawan mansion to this apartment that is my heaven on earth.
My family never considered Sai as a daughter or the daughter-in-law of the house except for my mother, my aunt Shivani and cousin sister Devyani. They always supported my wife and me.
But now I should stop thinking about them and focus on my beautiful wife.
“I love you too Sai,” I say to her while looking deep into her mesmerizing dark brown orbs, “more than you think.”
“That you have already proven to me,” she tells me in a confident way while a cute smile is forming on her lips. I give her a look of confusion.
“I wanted to ask you something,” I say while she looks at me with a glint of excitement as I continue asking her, “since when do you call me baby?”
She hits her head with her free hand dramatically and says, “you are such a idiot, Virat Sir.”
I give her a “what” and angry look while she pouts cutely at me as if I’m the biggest fool ever.
“How many times have I told you to call me Virat without the Sir?”
“Since a year,” she says with a smirk and I roll my eyes at her.
Wrong move, mate! My mind exclaims as soon as I see her tear up.
“I’m not talking to you,” she cries harder, “you always roll your expressive eyes at me.” I look at her apologetically as I do not intend to hurt her. Yet she does not look at me.
“Jaan(Darling),” I say, “mujhe maaf kar do please(please forgive me l).”
“Nahi, phele aap mujhe treat dijye(no, at first you have to give me a treat).” Her tone is childish. I sigh as I do not want to go out this late.
“You are not giving a treat, am I right?” She asks me and here we go again, her tears are present again.
Give her the treat, you love it when she is happy. My heart says.
“I’m going to give you whatever you want.” I say with all honesty that I possess.
“Then tomorrow we are going to go visit our family.” She answers back immediately.
“Why?” I ask her angrily as I still remember the way they behaved with her and I hate myself for letting her go through that.
“You promised, whatever I want,” she reminds me, “and I want us to reconcile with them.”
“Alright,” I answer back with a beaming smile. I’m proud to have her as my life partner. She never has blamed anyone for the situation we were in.
“Can we eat the cake now?” She asks and I nod. I get up from the bed and wait for her to follow me.
“You can go, I’m coming as soon as I get your present.” So I leave, not even a minute later she joins me. She puts my present near my plate and so do I, with hers.
She opens the jewellery box with a childlike smile and looks at the Mangalsutra I bought for her.
Her smile grows and says, “it’s so beautiful, thank you so much but this must have cost you a fortune.”
“Not more than your smile,” I say in a cheesy manner. She rolls her eyes but gives me her most beautiful smile.
The smile that made me fall in love with her. My heart says while I’m lost in her.
“Now open yours,” she bosses me, “while I get a knife for the cake.”
“Can we eat proper food first and then the cake?” I ask. she shakes her head, I sigh in annoyance.
“Phele hum cake kah le aur uske baad hum butter chicken kahne wale hain(At first we are going to eat the cake and then we are going to have butter chicken).” My mouth is watering as soon as I know what we are going to eat. She goes into the kitchen and gets the knife as the cake is already on the table.
Meanwhile I open the present and see that she has written a letter to me.
Dear Hubby,
I know I should have told you earlier but I didn’t know how to…
Look at the next page and your confusion is going to be cleared!
Love,
Your wife Sai
So I turn the page and my breath hitches as I read it. I have to read the whole thing about 20 times until it gets branded on my mind that it’s true.
“So did you like my surprise?” She asks, I get up from my chair, I walk towards her, pick her up, holding her by her waist and spin her around by showing her how happy I am.
“Thank you, thank you so much Sai for making me the happiest man alive.” I say while twirling us both around the place.
“Can you please put me down, I feel dizzy.” She tells me, so I do as I’m told and apologise to her immediately which she shrugs off.
“Virat, I’m happy to see you so happy, I hope no one tries to ruin this,” she takes a small break while I look at her with adoration and she then continues saying, “us!”
“No one can separate us ever,” I reply back, “because baby I’m yours till death does us apart.”
“Since when do you call me baby?” She asks and then makes a “oh” face. I laugh at her cute expressions.
“Let’s Go and eat the cake as well as celebrate,” I suggest and she nods with a small yet tired smile. So I cut two pieces of the cake, serve it to our plates, I start feeding her and in between she feeds me.
Soon the two pieces are finished, I can see that my wife is feeling very tired so I tell her, “you should go to bed. I know that you are tired.”
“But I’m hungry,” she pouts at me, I nod and get up from the chair, go to the kitchen, take out the food and reheat it.
As I place the vessels on the table, Sai pulls me towards her, kisses my cheek and I blush beetroot red all over my face. She smiles cheekily, I get an amazing idea all of a sudden.
As soon as she turns away from me, I sit down on the chair next to her, I look at her until she turns around to glare at me and I kiss her deeply.
She kisses me back until our heart beats are matching the other.
“We should stop,” she says into the kiss, I sadly detach myself from her, I don’t look at her, she holds my hand and says, “it’s not because I don’t want your affection but because I’m scared.”
I turn around and ask, “what are you scared of?”
“Of the new phase of our life.” She answers back, I wipe the cold lone tear of hers and kiss her cheek.
“You don’t have to be scared because I know we are going to get through this.” I say with comforting words which immediately work. She thanks me through her eyes.
Then we begin to eat, joke around and go to sleep an hour later after doing the dishes.
7 o’clock in the morning, I woke up to admire my wife. She is pouting adorably, my heart is going aww while my eyes are stuck on her. Soon she rubs her eyes in a cute way, opens her eyes and looks at me.
“What?” She asks.
“You are beautiful,” I say, making her blush. I pull her cheeks. She instantly glares at me, but I just naughtily smile at her.
“You are not getting any good morning kisses for a week.” Sai tells me with mischievousness written all over her face. I play along and pout at her.
“Whyyyy?” I ask in a babyish tone.
“Because you creep me out, when you just stare at me.” Is the reply I get while she makes some faces.
She is so cute, I would love to pull her cheeks. My mind says as well as my heart.
I get up from the bed, get the second anniversary gift that I had hidden quite well a week ago.
“What is this?” She is watching all my moves and questions me with curiosity. I hand the gifts over to her which are packed nicely. She looks even more excited while trying to open these, she pouts as she isn’t able to. Then she looks at me and I help her in opening them.
She looks at the sarees I bought for her as well as the set that matches one of them and the earrings to the other one.
“Yeh aap mere liye laye ho? Apko pata hai ki mujhe saree pehne nahi aati aur mujhe madat chayegi(Did you buy this for me? You know that I don’t know how to wear a saree as well as I’m going to need help).” She says without a mute button.
“Tum bohut khoobsurat lagti ho saree mein, jab maine tume pehli baar dekha tha tab se mera dil tumhara ho gaya hai(You look very beautiful while wearing a saree, when I saw you the first time, since then my heart belongs to you)…” I’m about to say more but she interrupts me with a surprise kiss. I kiss her back passionately. Emotions are taking over us like always as well as the need of being there for each other.
We stop the kiss as we do not want to go too far…we both are blushing so we are not looking at each other.
“How do you want to surprise our family?” We ask each other at the same time and then we laugh.
“Hmm, what if we pretend like I kicked you out of here as I saw a lipstick mark on your cheek?” She asks me and I shake my head.
“Too obvious,” I tell her and she rolls her eyes.
“What should we do then?” She questions me.
I think for a while. “What if I lie and say that I went to Sunny and because of that you got jealous and kicked me out?”
“No, as Sunny dada cannot lie at all.” And she is right with that point.
“Then what?” I ask. Then she whispers her plan into my ear and I smile and do what she tells me.
I walk into the bathroom and get ready.
When I come out, Sai whistles seeing me as well as laughs just like two years ago because I look like this.
She cannot stop giggling, I jump onto the bed, so that I’m on top of her.
“Bohut hasi ah rahi hai tumko par ab dekho main kya karuunga(You are laughing a lot but now are going to see what I’ll do).”
“No kissie please, I don’t like this moustache as it tickles me when we kiss.” She squeals while I tickle her. These are the moments I adore a lot and she does too.
She is different from the other girls, she is not obsessed with her phone, like for example Karishma! My mind exclaims.
“You should go and get ready Shona,” I say as soon as I stop tickling her, her being on the verge of falling asleep.
“No, I want to sleep a bit more, please.” She requests I give in by stroking her head lightly until she falls asleep. For a while I stare at her.
I then decide to make something for breakfast because I know that she is going to wake up in about 30 to 40 minutes.
And I’m right as soon as I have set the table she is up, looks a bit disorientated but alright.
“Morning Sunshine,” I happily say with a toothy smile as I have made her favourite Aloo Paratha(flatbread filled with potatoes).
She returns a smile to me and looks at food like it’s only made for her.
“Did you freshen up?” I ask and she nods while I know she hasn’t done that and I let her be as I do not want to have her shouting at me.
She walks towards me, hugs me, then says a thank you after kissing me on my cheek. I smile a bit.
I pull the chair for her like a good husband or gentleman does. She then sits down and I push the chair a bit.
I pull the chair for her like a good husband or gentleman does. She then sits down and I push the chair a bit.
I sit down on the chair next to her, serve the both of us with Paratha and yogurt. We silently eat our food and once in a while smile at each other.
Soon I do the first part of the plan and message Brigadier Sood that I’m going to call him in a few hours to tell him something important.
He messages me back with an okay. Now I hope that Samrat comes back home soon.
2 years since he had been missing in action. He and Pakhi Bhabhi need to solve all the misunderstandings so that they can start afresh. They both deserve happiness.
What I felt for Pathrelekha was only attraction that I misunderstood as love and even she made the same mistake.
I’m lost in some of my thoughts, when Sai asks me, “how do I look?”
She is sitting on my lap and I don’t even notice it…I gulp and look at my stunning wife who looks absolutely mesmerising in my shirt.
“Sai, tume tayaar nahi hona chaiye(Don’t you need to get ready, Sai)?” I ask her while my mouth is kinda dry. She shakes her head.
“We have time until 2 o’clock in the afternoon and then we have to leave. So let’s watch a movie and have ice cream!” She commands indirectly and I know that she is craving this and to sit on my lap.
“Okay, you chose the movie and I’m getting the ice cream.” I give in and ask, “which flavour do you want?”
“Snickers and Caramel.” She answers back while checking through the Blu-ray Discs we have.
When I come back, I see that she has put the disc of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani or as most people call it YJHD.
I roll my eyes as we have seen the movie countless times as Sai really likes Deepika Padukone a lot. But all the sudden she changes her mind by changing the disc to Om Shanti Om.
A few hours later, she finally gets ready in the dark green and bordeaux saree. As soon as she walks towards me, the pleats of her saree open up, I close my eyes.
“Stay there,” I say, she doesn’t reply back, so I walk towards her, then I drape the saree around her, do the pleats and tie the strings of her blouse as she has not done it properly.
I open my eyes, I turn her around so that we are looking deeply into each other’s eyes.
“Can you help me in wearing the jewellery and the mangalsutra please?” I nod, so we walk into our bedroom.
I then softly put her hair on one side. Make her wear the necklace, then the nuptial chain, after that one earring and I swiftly push her hair to the other side and make her wear the other earring. I softly peck her neck as I feel her shivering a bit. I take the small container with vermillion, she closes her eyes as I fill her hairline. I admire her through the mirror of the dressing table.
“Now you look perfect,” I whisper in her ear.
Then we decide to surprise our family, so we gather our things around. She comes with a cool bag. I’m about to ask her when she shakes her head at me, so I don’t!
10 minutes later we reach our destination. I walk towards the front door with the milk containers and ring the bell.
Shivani Bua opens the door, looks at me, then laughs and asks me loudly, “Virat, what are you wearing?”
And everyone rushes towards us and looks at me with wide eyes.
I smile and ask, “apko thodha sa dhudh chaiye(Do you want some milk)?”
Yet again they look at me weirdly. Until Pakhi Bhabhi asks, “Devar ji, Sai kahan hai(brother-in-law, where is Sai)?”
“She is coming,” I reply back with a smile trying to graze my lips but I don’t let it and pretend to cry.
“What happened Viru?” Aai asks and I cry harder.
“Sai got angry at me,” I tell them, some of them looked happy, “and she told me to become a milkman…”
“Because you spend a lot of money on me,” Sai says surprising me, “which is not needed.”
“But I want to spoil you.” I say while giving her one of my special looks only reserved for her.
“How many times do I have to make you a milkman that you learn a lesson from by not buying me things?” She asks me and everyone looks at us stunned.
“Sai, you look beautiful.” Aai says by interrupting the quarrel that was going to happen.
“Thank you Aai, Virat got it for me as an anniversary present.”
Dad, Kaku, Omi Kaka, Mansi Bua and Sonali Kaku glare at her as she called me by my name, whereas Aai, Shivani Bua, Pathrelakha Bhabhi, Karishma and Mohit smile hearing that. Two of three who are here, supported us from the beginning while some joined later on.
I walk towards my wife and pull her inside. She bangs into my chest and becomes quite red in shyness as well as in blushing. I smile seeing her like this.
“Viru, have you told Sai about your feelings?” Shivani Bua and Aai ask at the same time. I blush.
“Konsi feelings(which feelings)?” Sai asks before I can reply back to them.
“Accha ji, maine apna pyaar ka izhaar nahi kiya tumhare liye(Oh alright, I have not confessed my love for you)?” I raise my eyebrows at her while asking her that.
“Nahi kiya apne(You have not)!” She teases me.
“Toh babies kaise banaye jate hain(Then how are babies made).” I ask her, knowing quite well that she does know how.
“We haven’t had the chapter of the reproductive system yet. That will come in the next semester as we are going to have the chapter of pregnancy then too.” She replies back.
“And what do you think, how are babies made?” I ask while she shrugs.
“When a woman and a man kiss each other.” Is her innocent reply even though I know that she is not that innocent.
“So we have kissed a few times,” I say with a smirk, “which means that you are having let’s say about 15 babies.” She gives me a killer glare and I keep smirking at her.
While we hear Shivani Bua shouting, “congratulations Sai and Virat.”
“Un dono ko kyun congratulate kar rahi ho(Why are you congratulating them)?” Kaku questions her angrily while looking at Sai and me with disgust.
“Wahaini apko kyun itna gussa ah raha hain? Wajah Sai ki pregnancy hai kya?(Why are you getting so angry, sister-in-law? Is Sai’s pregnancy the reason?” Shivani Bua asks while shaking her head at Kaku in annoyance. I could feel that Sai is getting upset by Kaku’s indifference.
“Shona,” I look at my wife and firmly tell her, “you should get some rest!”
“I’m fine,” she tells me but the tone of her voice says otherwise. I rub her back to calm her down which works but it hurts me to see her like this.
I pick her up in bridal style, go upstairs to our old room and lay her down.
“I know that you are hurting,” I say but she doesn’t look at me, “you don’t need to worry because I’m with you.” In the last part of my sentence she looks up at me and finally gives me a convincing smile.
After that I decided to call Brigadier Sood. He immediately picks up and I tell him to find Samrat, tell him the happy news without telling who’s pregnant, as soon as possible.
Then I change my clothes and feel my wife checking me out.
“Like what you see?” I ask while she shakes her head. I glare at her but she smirks while still shaking her head.
I walk towards the bed, where she is laying down. I’m about to drive her crazy by taking off my shirt when a knock interrupts that part.
I open the door and see that my Bhabhi ji is here.
“Badi Mami has started her drama again.” Pakhi Bhabhi rolls her eyes while Sai giggles. Anger is surging through me so I walk past her but not before telling her to take care of my Sai. She smiles and nods.
I stalk downstairs and ask the person in question , “Kaku aap kyun humesha Sai ko taane marti ho(Why do you always taunt Sai, aunty)?”
“Maine kuch nahi kiya(I haven’t done anything).” She blatantly lies.
“Don’t lie to me! I have always seen how much you hate my wife since day one,” I say calmly with the perfect amount of anger, “you never gave her a real chance.”
She is about to shake off my accusations by lying.
“She took you away from us.” She says while believing her own words.
“No, it was my decision to leave this house because you tried to force me to marry another girl! And you know what Sai took the whole day to make everyone’s favourite sweets, cakes and rice pudding to tell you all the good news.” This time I yell at her and I do not notice that Sai and Bhabhi are coming downstairs.
“Is it true,” Sai asks, looking at me and I nod, so she continues asking, “and why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because I’d have never left you for anyone else,” I tell her while looking at her, “not even then when I knew that I love you.”
“You threw this all away for me. You left your family for me and I cannot forgive myself for that.” She begins to cry, even I am crying because she is faulting herself for their misbehaviour. I walk towards her and embrace her.
“What would you have done if you were me?”
“I would have broken my heart beyond repair to keep others happy if you were not the right person for me,” she answers back.
“That’s the difference between us. You are selfless whereas I’m selfish.”
“No, Virat you are not selfish at all,” She cries in my chest, “and this is a reason why I love you so much. You are the only person that can keep me sane after my Aaba.”
With one of her hands she lightly wipes my tears away as we untangle our arms from each other’s back and I wipe hers away.
Then we hear someone clapping before saying, “that’s what I call love.”
“Samrat,” I yell in surprise seeing him with Usha Mausi, Pakhi Bhabhi’s parents and an unfamiliar man as I happily say the rest of my sentence, “I’m so happy you are back. Now you and Pathrelekha Bhabhi can start afresh.”
The smile leaves my face when I see my brother in a wheelchair while he says, “one side of my body is paralysed and with a lot of Physiotherapie there is a 80 % chance of getting better.”
After a pregnant pause he says, “Thank you by the way for reaching out to me.” He says towards me.
“It was Sai’s plan that brought you back,” I say and then introduce her to him, “Jeeva this is my wife Sai and the reason for you getting promoted…”
“Tell me the good news Shiva!” He demands, Sai leaves my side and gets the cool bag with the sweet stuff.
She takes out packages for everyone, hands them over to everyone and gives Pakhi Bhabhi hers and Samrat’s. Everyone opens the lid and see the biggest portion is their favourite and smaller ones have the other sweets she has made.
“Sorry Samrat Dada,” she says holding her ears, “I don’t know what you like the most so I packed everything for you in the bigger packet and the other one is for me.”
“Does that mean that you like food a lot too?”
“Yes, she is a bigger foodie than you,” I reply back while Sai punches my shoulder.
“It’s all your fault!” She angrily says. I gulp, while Samrat just laughs his head off.
“Not entirely my fault,” I pout at her as I say, “we both made the baby that is growing inside your womb!”
“Wohoo, best surprise ever!” Samrat winks at me.
“I’m waiting for you and Pakhi Bhabhi to give us the same news,” I wink at him while making him and his wife blush too.
“Sai,” I say, “let’s go home!”
And we leave the Chawan mansion forever after seeing everyone back, except for us both, together…The best decision ever made!
