Chapter 29
It hurts when the only person you want to remember for the rest of your life, forgets you !!
Naksh’s POV.
What was going on ?!! Why was this happening to them ?!! They deserved happiness,not this. I couldn’t see Karthik like that. Also I couldn’t see Naira like that. It bothered me that she was so quite. She was never like that, she is always bubbly and talkative.
The doctors had said she was still unconscious. She had lost a lot of blood and her arm has been fractured. Everybody was worried, sick. Keerti couldn’t stop crying.Mumma and papa, who had just arrived, they couldn’t even stop thinking about their daughter. But the person who was affected the most was Karthik !!!
He sat there with us but mentally he was somewhere else. He looked like he was okay, but he was not. He was shocked, broken and worried as hell. He hadn’t spoken even a single word to anybody. As far as I knew him, he was probably breaking from inside. After seeing him like that,it made me feel worse.
Everybody sat there in silence as a doctor approached us.
“Mr. Karthik ?!!” He said, gathering everyone’s attention.
Karthik stood up and looked at doctor with full of hope in his eyes. He was a very positive person and I knew he was capable of handling any kind of pressure. But this,Would he be able to take it ?!!
“How is she, doctor ?!!” Mumma asked.
“We’ve been checking her for a while but she’s still unconscious. I’m afraid if she doesn’t gain consciousness she will go into coma.” Said the doctor.
God, no. Please don’t let this happen !!
“What do you mean by she will go into coma ?!! You cant let this happen. I mean you’re here to save her !!” Karthik yelled.
“I’m sorry sir, some things even we doctors cant control. We’ll wait for next four hours and see what happens. We can only pray for her now.” He said and left leaving us all worried.
“I can’t lose her again.” Karthik said in a barely audible tone.
I wish I could make everything right for him and Naira, but I could only wish…..
“Karthik , just calm down, okay ?!! You’ve to be strong. Have faith in god and everything will work out.” I said, attempting to make him feel a little better.
“It hurts Naksh. It really hurts. I cant live without her.I really cant.”He said, taking deep breaths as his voice started cracking in between.
His eyes were watery and red. I’ve never seen him this miserable. I didn’t have to say anything to him so I just engulfed him in a hug .
All we could do now was to sit and pray…
Karthik’s POV.
Why is this happening to me ?!! Why am I losing her again ?!! Why me ?!! Why us ?!! What wrong has Naira done to deserve this ?!!
I couldn’t take it anymore. I couldn’t just sit there and wait for some miracle to happen,but on the other hand I couldn’t even do anything. Nobody could. I could see my life going away from me in front if my eyes. I could see a pale and fragile Naira lying there lifeless. But I couldn’t save her…
I walked towards her unconscious and weak body and sat down beside her. There were a few minor scratches on her face which was barely visible from distance. She had hit her head and got her arm fractured.
I gently took her hand in mine and planted a kiss on her knuckles.
“Hey babe !! I guess you’re still asleep, huh ?!! Everybody is so much worried about you.. Keerti,Naksh, Akshara aunty,Naitik sir. Please wake up jaan, for me.” I said as unknowingly tears rolled down my face. I stroked her hair and held her hand close to my heart.
“I love you so much, and I really don’t want to lose you again. I just wish it was me lying in place of you. I cant see you like this. I want my Naira back. I want to see those beautiful eyes of yours and also your million dollar smile again. So please just wake up. I promise, I’ll never let anything happen to you again.just come back because if you leave this time, I wont be able to survive.” I said and kissed her forehead.
I stayed in there with her for sometime. Soon Naksh and Keerti came in as well.
Keerti sat beside me. I noticed her after a long time. Her hair was a little messed up and her face pinkish because of crying. She really loved Naira.
Naksh also looked tired. His hair were messed up and it looked like he had been pulling at them in different directions. He looked defeated at Naira lying there on the hospital bed !!
I sighed and tried to block all the bad thoughts away that were running in my mind. I couldn’t lose her again. I won’t lose her again.I’ll do anything to get her back.And that was a promise I had made to myself…
It had been almost four hours. Four hours since the accident. There was no change in Naira’s condition. No matter how much we tried, she just laid there, unconscious. There are no words to explain how was I feeling at that very moment.
‘What if she doesn’t wake up ?!!’ I thought as the words of doctors rang in my ears. “If she doesn’t wake up in the next four hours, she can go into coma.” He had said.
This just couldn’t happen to her !! I mean, she was supposed to live !! For me…
I felt a light tap on my shoulder and found Akshara aunty. She too had been worried as hell all this time.
“Karthik, I think you should go home and take rest. You look really tired now. I’ll keep you updating about Naira,okay ?!!” She said.
How could I go home ?!! How could I even think of leaving Naira like that ?!!
“No. I’ll stay.” I replied tiredly.
“Listen dont punish yourself like that. Naira is going to be okay. She’s going to wake up and she’s going to come home with us.” She said.
All I could do was nod. I didnt know what was going to come next. Either I get my life back or either I lose everything right here…
The doctor came in and along with him were Naitik sir.The doctor asked us to talk to Naira and encourage her to wake up. It had already been four hours and if she doesn’t wake up soon, she might just go in coma.We just stood there, beside Naira in silence, when Naitik sir spoke up.
“Is she awake ?!! She’s not responding. Princess open your eyes..” he said to a lifeless Naira lying on the bed.
“Just keep on saying things to her. She might react.” The doctor said while checking her pulse.
I hadn’t said a word and just stood next to Naira’s lifeless body.
“Naira open your eyes, We all love you so much. Come on get up !!” Naksh said in an unsteady voice. He had been so strong all the while, taking care of Everyone and assuring us that she would be alright but right now I could see his gaurd break down.
“Her pulse is getting stronger.” The doctor said. Akshara aunty gasped and looked at her daughter hopefully. I took Naira’s hand in mine, as all of us were waiting for something to happen.
And then,as if God had been listening to our prayers, Naira squeezed her eyes shut. Her other hand crumbled the bedsheet and she was starting to show signs of improvement.
There she was,slowly after a lot of difficulty, she fluttered her eyes open. She was back.Alive.Perfectly alright.
A big smile was spread across everyone’s faces as we sighed with relief. After holding back so much, I let a few drops of tears flow,but this time, They were happy tears.
“I love you so much.You dont know how worried we all were. Never do that again,never think of leaving me again, jaan.” I said wrapping my arms around her fragile body, carefully not to harm her in any way.
But Naira didn’t respond. She looked so pale and confused. Like she had never seen me before.
“Naira ?!! say something..” I said cupping her face. She looked around at the white walls and the blurred images in front of her which were getting clearer slowly and then she looked at me.
“Who are you ?!!” She asked with a confused expression…..

Don’t kill me peeps !!!
So this Chapter was dedicated to Akanksha as she had suggested this plot. But I have improvised it a little bit, Naira would not be remembering her teenage years that includes meeting Karthik and falling in love with him.
She won’t remember any of it. Meeting Karthik, falling in love, their 3 years of relationship, the accidents, her leaving him, going to london, coming back, Rithvik, the patchup. She won’t be remembering any of it !!
And please don’t loose hope guys as I kaira would be apart but only in distance and not at heart !! so just have faith and patience and don’t hate me.
Kaira would be together soon. That’s a promise.
