Yasir Hussain’s Candid Critique of Television Dramas: A Controversial View on Industry Standards

Yasir Hussain, a prominent figure in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, recently stirred controversy with his scathing remarks on both Pakistani and Indian television dramas. In an interview with Something Haute, Hussain didn’t mince words as he expressed his disillusionment with the state of the industry and his reluctance to see his son follow in his footsteps.

Addressing the quality of Pakistani television shows, Hussain remarked, “Our industry is not a good industry. I don’t want my son to join this industry…Is this a job? An actor’s job is to do good acting. It’s a field where you should promote your craft, but consistently, you are being offered bad work.”

His criticism extended beyond the borders, as he took aim at Indian television dramas, labeling them as ‘poison’. Responding to the host’s mention of Indian viewership of Pakistani shows, Hussain bluntly remarked, “Nations with low-quality dramas are watching our dramas. Who else is watching Pakistani dramas? Only those people are watching our dramas whose content is worse…India has excessively negative dramas. Our dramas are better than theirs, so they are watching it.”

This isn’t the first time Hussain has courted controversy with his critiques. In the past, he reviewed Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, dismissing it as a “storyless video game” on Instagram Stories.

Despite his outspoken nature, Yasir Hussain remains a multifaceted personality in the entertainment realm, known for his hosting duties on The After Moon Show and his contributions to both TV and film. His recent role as an antagonist in the drama serial Baandi further showcases his versatility and impact in the industry.
