Actress Swati Rajput who is currently essaying the lead in the show Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar moved from Delhi to Mumbai in 2010 to pursue her passion for acting. The actress who is currently essaying the role of a girl who is facing discrimination because of her skin color has herself faced rejection because of her skin color.
Swati talked about it in an interview with BT and shared, “It’s sad but even today skin color becomes an issue. Casting directors have told me on my face that I will never get good roles because of my complexion. I was told that there is a demand for fair girls and I would request them to at least audition me. This was at the beginning of 2019.”
She added, “I was also told that I am not a TV lead face because lead actresses look a certain way. I am tall too as compared to other actresses, so that became an issue too at some places.”
After trying for 4 years, there was a time when Swati decided to give up on television. Things finally started to change with her stint in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Ek Baar Phir. Swati is now living her dream and is glad to be the lead in Yeh Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar. “Now every day I wake up happy. I know that I will go to work and do something that I like doing. I look forward to my day,” she said.
The actress also talked about the pandemic time and how she sailed through the tough period by doing advertisements. “I feel that the ad world somewhere accepted me easily. I have endorsed so many brands, I have done more than 300 advertisements,” she concluded.
