“Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” currently reigning as one of Indian television’s top-rated shows, recently witnessed a shake-up in its cast, raising eyebrows among fans and industry insiders alike. Last month, actors Shehzada Dhami and Pratiksha Honmukhe were abruptly terminated from the show by producer Rajan Shahi, sparking a wave of speculation regarding the reasons behind the decision.
Addressing the controversy and dispelling rumors surrounding a purported “no-dating clause” in contracts, Rajan Shahi opened up in an interview with ABP’s Saas Bahu Aur Saazish. Refuting the notion of such a clause, Shahi emphasized the importance of professionalism while clarifying that actors are free to pursue relationships off-screen, as long as it does not interfere with their work.
Highlighting past instances where actors from his shows have found love on set and tied the knot, Shahi asserted his support for personal relationships among the cast while stressing the need for maintaining a harmonious work environment.
Delving into the specifics of terminating Shehzada Dhami, Shahi recounted instances of behavioral concerns and lack of professionalism exhibited by the actor on set. Despite providing ample opportunities for improvement, Shahi ultimately made the decision to replace Dhami to ensure a conducive work atmosphere for the entire team.
Following Dhami’s departure, Rohit Purohit stepped into the role of Armaan, while Garvita Sadhwani assumed the character of Ruhi, previously portrayed by Pratiksha Honmukhe. These changes mark a significant transition for the beloved show, as it continues to captivate audiences with its engaging storyline and talented cast.
