Love is when the other person’s happiness is more important than your own. It is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. True love is like ghosts, which everyone talks about and few have seen and who has felt it is really lucky!!.. It all started four years ago…
**Flashback Starts**
She was my best friend. With three years of undying friendship, I fell in love with her. It was during our graduation time, she called me up. She was sounding too desperate and happy. When I asked about the matter, she simply denied and asked me to meet at our favorite spot. I awaited, sitting on those dirty rusted benches, calling her numerous times till dawn of the next hour but she didn’t show up.
When I met her during the exams, she said it wasn’t important and she would tell me everything during the last day. Finally, the exams ended and she texted “Meet me an hour later in the canteen”
Adrenaline rushed as I was getting desperate to propose her. I thought it was perfect to propose her now. She came but she wasn’t alone. She came with another man. She introduced me to him. Nikhil Roy, a cardiologist by profession and her love. My heart bleed at the simple thought that she didn’t belong to me but someone else..
She held my hand though the darkness but let go when she found the light. She told me the actual matter why she didn’t come to meet me that day. She also said how her parents are against this marraige because he is a Bengali.
“There is no other option left now, other than eloping” she said and my eyes grew wide.
“Are you alright? Crazy fellow!”
“There is no other option rather than eloping. I can’t leave without Nikhil and our families are at gun point. There is no better option than eloping and marrying” I gave the matter a second thought.
I wasn’t going to agree. This was risky. But she was adamant.
Two days later, I was waiting for them at the airport and biding them bye. I wasn’t ready but she had made me do this task. She was my best friend and for me her well-being and happiness was of utmost importance.
It was for the last time I saw her. Kissing my cheeks, bidding bye she went of with Nikhil to London.
**Flashback Ends**
“Emotions are no less than a blessing from God because no one has got enough of them. But at times, this blessing becomes more of a pain for us when they are one sided. Not everyone is lucky enough to be loved back by people whom they fall for. It happens too often for people to fall in love with someone who doesn’t love us back or don’t feel the same way for us. The same beautiful feeling of love turns into miserable situation for us. One sided love is never easy. It puts us in grief all the time because our heart does not understand and keeps on expecting from the loved one. We get hurt every time our expectation is not fulfilled and our heart falls apart. We keep on trying to evoke the same feelings in the next person’s heart and don’t want to give up despite the closed door in front of us. Our ego hurts and our friends blame us for moving on but our love doesn’t let us do that.
The only solution to this is patience. We shouldn’t blame ourself for indulging in this because we can not control your heart to fall for some particular person and not the other. We shouldn’t hide our emotions in the fear of getting hurt. We should share our feelings with the one we love. It is human nature to expect from others in terms of feelings. When we love someone, our heart automatically evokes the need to get the same amount of love back or at least get acknowledgement. But when we don’t get those feelings back, we get hurt and there’s nothing that we can do about it. We can not put love for ourself in someone’s heart no matter how much we try. Love is not something that can be done with effort but instead it just happens” Swati tapped my shoulder.
“Bravo!” she uttered “You are crying? Crazy little fellow! I was just worried about my sister” she spoke as she wiped my wet cheeks.
“I don’t know what is love. I never fell for your brother. But what I know is that, what you did needs immense courage and strength. I know how hard it is to forget someone who gave you so much to remember” she got nostalgic somewhere.
Swati is my sister-in-law cum good friend. I shook her when I felt she was lost somewhere “Why don’t you share anything about you and bhai? I know there’s nothing good between you both”
“There’s nothing bad also. We just have a friendship like I do with you. But there is nothing more than that! We are married for only two months now. We both need time” she smiled.
“That’s also there. After all it was arranged and you prefer, love marraige” I smirked.
“How did you know?”
“She told me once. She used to say how you both were poles apart but when it came to marraige, you both have the same opinion” she laughed.
“She knew me so well”
“After all you both are twins” I added.
“Yeah! Anyways, you have to leave for London tomorrow. Did you pack your bags?”
“Ah! Forgot doing” she left the room and I started packing. London brought back her memories. It was London where she went with Nikhil. She might be having kids by now. I smiled with tears and started packing.
